Mulled Wine Apple Crumble | Blogmas Day 8

Thursday, December 08, 2016

I'm coming at you with another festive recipe today! I'm really so into my Christmas baking and wintery cooking at the moment that I spend every weekend trying new recipes. This is one of them and boy it's gone straight to the top of my favourites list! I love a good apple crumble but this recipe is taking it to a whole new level. Here's my mulled wine apple crumble!

You'll need:

3-4 big apples
3 tbsp caster sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
juice of half a lemon
150 ml mulled wine
3 tbsp caster sugar

75g oats
50g white flour
50g caster sugar
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of salt
75g soft butter

Method:

Preheat your oven to 200°C.

Peel and core your apples then chop them into little chunks (not too little though, you don't want them to fall apart in the oven). Add the sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice and mix well, then put it all in an oven proof casserole dish.

In a little pot heat up the mulled wine with the sugar and reduce the mixture a little bit.
While that's bubbling away, you can get started with your crumble. Simply add all the ingredients into a bowl and knead with your fingers until you've got a crumbly consistency.

Now pour the mulled wine over the apples and mix together with a spoon, then cover it all nicely with the crumbles.

Put the dish in the oven for about 30 minutes and serve while still warm. It's especially delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Are you gonna give this a go? It's really easy and besides the mulled wine, you probably got all the ingredients you need to hand. So there's really no excuse not to! :) It's a delicious and quick to make winter warmer sweet treat for everybody - literally everybody, the mulled wine is first reducing on the stove and then bubbling away in the oven for 30 mins so there won't be any alcohol left once it's ready to be eaten don't you worry :)

Lots of Love,
Jess xx
